BOGUE CHITTO — Bogue Chitto pitcher Blaine Myers made sure that the six errors the defense committed would not affect her as the Lady Bobcats rolled to an 11-1 win over the Cathedral Lady Green Wave Monday afternoon in the Region 7-1A opener.
Myers allowed just one run, that in the top of the second inning, on two hits in five innings. The offense gave her more than effort run support with five runs in the bottom of the first inning.
“They were ready to play. These girls made some good catches and they were ready. We weren’t” Cathedral assistant coach Penny Daggett said.
Daggett added that the Lady Green Wave would have had some base hits in the top of the first inning, but the Lady Bobcats made three spectacular catches right off the bat that set the tone for the game.
Cathedral’s defense, on the other hand, had trouble fielding the ball throughout the game and wound up with an astonishing nine errors.
“It wasn’t so hard (hit) that we shouldn’t have been able to make the play,” Daggett said. “We were flat. Our pitches weren’t falling. If it could go wrong, it went wrong. But we’ve got West Lincoln Thursday night. We’re going to get back and refocus.”
Bogue Chitto added two runs in the bottom of the second inning and wound up 10-run ruling Cathedral (5-5, 0-1) with four runs in the bottom of the third. Darcy Miller led the Lady Bobcats at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double.
