Ferriday — A Ferriday man was arrested after he allegedly tried to set a house on fire.
Eric Hunter, 34, 610 Sixth St., was arrested on charges of attempted aggravated arson Wednesday night.
The Ferriday police responded to the call on Sixth Street at 11:53 p.m. Wednesday, and were greeted in the street by the victims, Ferriday Police Chief Richard Madison said.
Hunter allegedly set a mattress on fire with the intent of burning the house down. The mattress was in a back bedroom in the house, Madison said.
The victims are reportedly relatives of Hunter, Madison said.
Hunter has a history of psychiatric disturbances, and experts will evaluate his current mental state, Madison said.
Hunter was held without bond by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Thursday.
