PEARL — The Pearl High School Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament is one that the Cathedral Lady Green Wave would just as soon rather forget about.
Cathedral gave up a total of 29 hits – 14 to Clinton in a 12-0 loss in four innings and 15 to host Pearl in a 7-0 loss in seven innings Saturday.
Cathedral managed just four hits against both Clinton pitcher E. Lewis and Pearl’s pitcher.
Clinton’s offense was led by L. Goolsby, who went 3-for-4 with a double. Five Lady Arrows players had at least two hits in the first game.
Even though Cathedral pitcher Rachel Smilo pitched three straight scoreless innings after the Lady Green Wave fell behind 5-0, the bats could not come up with the big hit to get them back in the game. Betsy Daggett was the lone multiple hitter for Cathedral going 2-for-3.
The final game for Cathedral ended up going into extra innings, but they fell short losing to the West Lincoln Lady Bears 4-2.
West Lincoln rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie the score at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning and then winning the game with two runs in the top of the eighth.
Cathedral (5-8) had 12 hits but left 13 runners on base. West Lincoln had 13 hits, yet it left nine runners on base.
