BROOKHAVEN — Nicole Sandifer’s one-out single scored Lacey Orr with the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets defeated the Franklin County Lady Dawgs 4-3 Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Greer led off with a single, but she was forced out at second on a fielder’s choice by Orr. A single by Amanda Burke moved Orr over to second and Sandifer singled to bring in Orr.

Enterprise won the game despite having just seven hits to Franklin County’s 12 hits and committing the same number of errors as the Lady Dawgs committed.

“We weren’t selective at the plate,” Franklin County head coach Dana Smith said. “Too many walks. We left 15 runners on base.”

Franklin County (11-6) left the bases loaded in the top of the first inning and two on in the top of the third, fourth and seventh innings. Only in the third and seventh innings did the Lady Dawgs score their runs.

Enterprise scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but the Lady Dawgs cut into the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth and then tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh.

Taylor Stewart led off with a single, but was forced out at second on a fielder’s choice by Shaniquia Cameron. Cameron moved to second on a single and then scored on a single by Morgan Knapp.

Winning pitcher Sandifer as well as Burke each went 2-for-4. Losing pitcher Desiree Buie went 3-for-4 and Melissa McFarland was 2-for-4.
