NATCHEZ — Natchez roads will again rumble with the sound of choppers this weekend as motorcycle owners roll into town for the second year in a row.
Last year, more than 1,000 Mississippi Harley Davidson Owners Group, or H.O.G., members rode into town for their annual rally.
This year, they’re returning to the Natchez Convention Center for the second time.
“Natchez is just a really good location for motorcycle riding,” Jackson H.O.G. Chapter Director Mike Sumrall said. “With the Trace and historic byways, it’s a destination city.”
The rally, which will run Thursday through Saturday, will include breakout sessions about safe riding and other biking concerns.
This year, the H.O.G.s will be joined by a new event, the Great Southern V-Twin Expo.
While the H.O.G. rally caters exclusively to Harley owners, the expo at the community center will invite bikers of all breeds.
“What we want to do is establish the expo each year,” organizer Bill Bissell, owner of B&B Productions, said. “Even if the H.O.G.s don’t come back next year, we will. Natchez is a great tour and a beautiful ride destination.”
The expo will feature a free bike show along with vendors of all brands of bike gear.
Bissell said he did not know how many riders to expect at the expo.
The two organizations are teaming up to present the “Wall of Death,” an event in which a motorcyclist makes laps inside a circular, vertical wall.
