RIDGECREST — Two Ridgecrest residents were arrested on felony and other drug charges Tuesday.

James T. Thompson Jr, 24 and Candace L. Anders, 22, were arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of schedule four drugs and felony possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

The schedule four drugs Anders and Thompson were arrested for was reportedly Xanax.

The arrest was made after officers discovered marijuana residue in the vehicle in which Thompson and Anders were riding, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kathleen Stevens said.

Anders and Thompson then reportedly gave permission for officers to search their residence at 101 Vidalia Drive, where officers found additional drugs and drug paraphernalia, Stevens said.

Officers also issued a summons to Kathy Thompson — James Thompson’s mother — for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

James Thompson was detained on a $25,000 bond Wednesday, and Anders’ bond was set at $15,000.
