Natchez — For hunters or landowners who have ever wondered just how they should manage their land, the Adams County Extension Service will offer a course to answer those questions Tuesday.
A Wildlife Habitat and Food Plot Management course will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to answer lingering questions about how timber management will affect wildlife habitat, what kind of plants landowners should establish and where they should build a new food plot.
The program is free and is offered by the extension service open to the public, Adams County Extension Director David Carter said.
The program and all of its materials — registration fees, notebooks, refreshments, tuition and other supplies — were provided through the Adams County Board of Supervisors through funding from the Title III Enhanced Forestry Education Program.
The schedule will be as follows:
At 6 p.m. will be registration and dinner.
At 6:30 p.m. will be a discussion of habitat management, which will include information about habitat diversity and types, native plants and forest management.
At 7:30 p.m. will be a discussion of food plot management, which will include information about site and seed selection, soil preparation, pH and fertilization and plant and habitat management.
At 8:30 p.m. will be a final evaluation and adjournment.
“People can call before Tuesday and reserve a spot and give us an accurate food count,” Carter said.
The course is worth two hours credit in category one for the Continuing Forestry Education program.
