VIDALIA — A Ferriday teen was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly committed a drive-by shooting.
Tyrone J. Davis, 17, 442 Doty Road, Ferriday, was arrested Tuesday by Vidalia Police on charges of aggravated assault by drive-by, illegal discharge or carrying of a weapon, no driver’s license and no insurance.
Davis allegedly fired a weapon into the side of a house on Martin Luther King Drive Tuesday in retaliation for an earlier incident, Police Chief Billy Hammers said.
Someone in front of the house had reportedly hurled a brick at Davis’ car, Hammers said.
Police investigators determined Davis was not intent on harming anyone, Hammers said.
“It was determined based on where the bullet struck the house and where the person was standing that he wasn’t aiming for them,” Hammers said. “His goal was to frighten.”
The police were not able to recover the weapon used in the incident, and the department is considering offering a reward for its recovery, Hammers said.
The matter is still under investigation, Hammers said.
