TWENTY YEARS AGO — Cathedral junior Christopher Garcia is named The Natchez Democrat’s Player of Week after having 11 solo tackles, including four for a loss, seven rushes for 31 yards and five receptions for 60 yards in the Green Wave’s 21-0 win over the Salem Wildcats.

TEN YEARS AGO — Centreville senior quarterback Wesley Simmons completes 13 of 20 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns and Brad Havard has 15 carries for 190 yards and three touchdowns as the Tigers end up with 676 total yards in a wild 66-42 win over the ACCS Rebels.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Led by running back Brennan Bush and quarterback Tyrrence Taylor, the Ferriday Trojans, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, will look to go to 4-0 on the season, but it won’t be easy when they take on the 2-1 Peabody Warhorses of Class 4A for homecoming.
