VIDALIA — Coming off of a win over Mangham, the Vidalia Vikings will host the Jena Giants in a non-district game this Friday at 7 p.m.

Vidalia (2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak last week and hopes to build off of that success this week, coach Dee Faircloth said.

The Vikings will try to focus on the game and not the homecoming festivities, which are going on this week.

“Hopefully, homecoming won’t be too bad of a distraction,” Faircloth said.

This is the last non-district game of the year for the Vikings.

“This is going to be a tough game, it should get us ready for our district games,” Faircloth said.

The Vikings have had fumbling problems all year and it has taken it’s toll on their record.

“We should be 4-0 right now,” Faircloth said.

Jena (2-2) is coming off of a loss at Ferriday, a game that was originally scheduled to be played in Jena, but was moved at the last second due to the protests going on in Jena.

“They are tough as heck and hard to bring down,” Faircloth said.

Vidalia won a scrimmage against Jena earlier this year, but Faircloth said that’s not always a good sign.

“A lot of times, when you win the scrimmage, you lose the regular season game,” Faircloth said.

The game is at 7 p.m. Friday at Dee Faircloth Viking Stadium in Vidalia.
