NATCHEZ — Jerry Lambuth has been in business since 1975, but he didn’t want his business to stay the same as it was 32 years ago.

Jerry — who co-owns the business along with his son Shane Lambuth — recently opened a new, re-vamped location for Lambuth’s Quick Lube and Car Wash.

The new business is located at 268 Seargent Prentiss Drive, on the same lot the old Quick Lube stood on since 1993.

“After being in the old building for so long, we wanted to build a nice place for Natchez to come and get their oil changed and their car washed,” Shane Lambuth said.

The feature Jerry Lambuth is most proud of is the new carwash they added to the business.

“This carwash has the latest, the most state-of-the-art carwash technology available,” he said. “You couldn’t drive to California and get a better wash than this.”

Some of the advances in the carwash include scrubbers made with a foam polymer instead of wire bristles.

“It’s like your car is being washed with a fleece,” Shane said. “Those old bristles might scratch your car.”

Other changes include an option for undercarriage wash and even the possibility of having Armor-All sprayed on the car’s tires once they are cleaned.

The carwash is fully automated, and even before a customer begins they pull through a drive-through resembling that for an ATM. The customer selects what kind of wash they want and makes their payment, and once the gate lifts they pull through to begin their wash.

Carwashes come with three choices: the $5 basic wash, the $8 super wash and the $10 ultimate express wash. All three can be upgraded to include an application of Rain-X for $3.

“For the money, being able to sit in the air conditioning in your car with your music, it’s worth it,” Shane said.

The carwash is capable of cleaning 130 cars in a single hour, Jerry Lambuth said.

“We can handle six cars in there at once,” he said. “It’s 100 feet long and is completed in about three minutes. That’s a pretty intense cleaning — it’ll make your car shine like it’s new off the lot.”

The carwash also offers free vacuums whenever the carwash is open, Shane said.

“You’re not going to be able to find this at a gas station,” he said.

The Quick Lube service also has also incorporated some changes so the station can make oil changes in about 10 minutes, Jerry Lambuth said.

“We keep a lot of guys hired so they can all work on the car pretty quickly,” he said. “It looks like an Indy 500 pit crew in there so you can get in there and out.”

The Quick Lube also offers tire service, transmission flushes and minor mechanical work.

Shane’s wife Jennifer Lambuth does the bookkeeping for the business, he said.

“She really helps us out, really does a lot around here,” he said.

Lambuth’s Carwash and Quick Lube is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
