TWENTY YEARS AGO — Vidalia’s Eric Jones, who had 22 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown in a 32-7 win over Delta, and Cathedral’s Craig Beesley, who ran for 180 yards and two scores and threw for 349 yards in a 36-30 loss to William Winans, are The Democrat’s Players of the Week.

TEN YEARS AGO — T.C. Love has 25 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns while Natchez High’s defense and special teams force three turnovers that lead to three touchdowns as the Bulldogs rally from a 14-6 deficit to defeat the Provine Rams 28-14 to improve to 5-1 overall.

FIVE YEARS AGO — In a battle of two teams that each have a first-year head coaches, the Franklin County Bulldogs, led by Anthony Hart, will continue their march to the playoffs as they take on the Jefferson County Tigers, led by Jeffery Harness, in a key Region 7-3A game.
