TEN YEARS AGO — Ferriday High Trojans freshman running back Corey Gardner is named The Natchez Democrat’s Player of the Week after having 255 yards rushing on 36 carries in the Trojans’ 22-6 win over the McCall Dragons to improve to 2-3 on the season.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Jamie Stevens pitches a complete-game four-hitter, Bridget Foreman goes 2-for-3 with a double and Stephanie Stevens brings in a run as Amite School Center defeats Deer Creek 2-1 to win its first-ever MPSA Class A Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament championship.
