Natchez — The Woman’s Auxiliary of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Association of Adams County will host its fifth annual E.L. Porter prayer breakfast at the Zion Flowers Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Jr. Road, at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
The prayer breakfast was started as a means of honoring one of the past president, Ethel L. Porter who served the organization for many years before her passing. It is one of the many things the auxiliary does as a collective unit. The auxiliary consists of 23 societies and two units.
The president, Thelma Latham organized the prayer breakfast as a means of helping to keep the beautiful spirit of Mr. Porter alive. She was responsible for the organization of many of the missionary ministries in the Baptist churches in Adams County and keeping those in the working mode that were existing before her tenure.
Those who will attend the prayer breakfast will be blessed with praise and worship. The breakfast speaker will be Darryl V. Grennell, a Natchez native. Grennell presently serves as president of the Adams County Board of Supervisors of and is a faculty member at Alcorn State University, Lorman campus.
An enjoyable meal and a spirit filled program has been planned.
The four previous breakfasts have been well attended, however space is limited and tickets should be purchased from any missionary society member before the date.
There will be some tickets at the door.
Tickets may also be purchased from county officers: Ernestine Stanton, first vice president and breakfast director, Bobbie Johnson, second vice president, and Audrey Henry, breakfast co-director.
