JACKSON (AP) — Entergy Mississippi will reduce electricity rates by 9 percent in October, the utility company announced Tuesday.
Entergy officials said a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month will see a monthly bill decrease from about $103 to about $94. The new rate level will be in effect through the end of 2007.
Officials said the lower rates are due to favorable power management activities and other reductions.
‘‘We are pleased to pass these savings on to customers,’’ Carolyn Shanks, president/CEO of Entergy Mississippi, said in a statement. ‘‘This announcement meets with Entergy’s ongoing commitment to provide reliable service at the most affordable rate possible.’’
