NATCHEZ — A Natchez man accused of stealing six cars from Adams County was apprehended and arrested Monday.
Woodville police pulled over Demetrice C. Scott, 20, 601 Old Washington Road, in Wilkinson County Monday, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
Scott was driving a stolen vehicle, Mullins said.
That was only one of six reportedly stolen from August through October, he said.
Three of the six vehicles were recovered in Wilkinson County, and three were found in Adams County, according to Natchez Police reports.
Most of the cars were models in the 1990s. They were reported stolen from the Piggly Wiggly, Quitman Drive, Old Washington Road, Village Green Apartments and Seargent S. Prentiss Drive.
The cars reported stolen included three Toyota Camrys, two Cadillacs and a Chevy Caprice.
Two of the vehicles recovered in Adams County were found burned.
Some of the vehicles stolen had the owners’ keys still in the car, according to police reports.
Scott was transported to Natchez, where he was charged with one count of grand larceny. Wednesday, he was charged with two more counts.
Mullins said he expected his department would eventually charge Scott with all six car thefts.
When he was arrested, Scott was already out on bond with the Adams County circuit court for burglary, Mullins said.
Scott was held without bond at the Natchez City Jail Wednesday until his arraignment.
