Election turnout high at Concordia Parish polls

VIDALIA — Nearly 64 percent of Concordia Parish’s 13,315 registered voters made their way to the polls during voting for the primary.
A total of 8,516 early and Election Day votes were cast in the election.
That many votes being cast was an atypically high turnout, Registrar of Voters Golda Ensminger said.
“We haven’t seen this kind of turnout in some time,” she said.
The last election to see those kind of numbers was in 2003, when 7,685 voters went out to the polls, Ensminger said.
