Lake St. John to celebrate harvest season

Harvest is from an Anglo-Saxon word “haerfest” which meant “Autumn.” For as long as people have been planting and gathering food, they have celebrated and thanked God for a good harvest.
Continuing this tradition, the Lake St. John Recreation and Water Conservation District has scheduled a Harvest Festival for Saturday at Neely’s Spokane Resort on Lake St. John.
Activities will begin at 1 p.m., featuring food, children’s games, a cake-walk, casserole sale, live music and door prizes. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to meet their neighbors, celebrate a good harvest, celebrate life and lake living.
All proceeds from food sales, T-shirts and lake decals will benefit the new Lake St. John Community Center, to be built on Louisiana 568 on beautiful Lake St. John.
An “open mike” time will allow “new stars’ to “jam” with our famous local musicians, so bring your guitars and join in the songfest.
Our own famous humorist, Clyde Ray Webber, will be among the featured entertainers. Bring your lawn chairs, bring your children, bring your dancing shoes and meet new friends and neighbors Saturday at Neely’s Spokane Resort on Lake St. John.
