NATCHEZ — The Natchez Dixie Riding Club will be presenting the Ultimate Cowboy Challenge II Sunday starting at 10 a.m. at the Adams County Equestrian Center on Foster Mound Road.

There will be events for children 12 years old and under preceding the adult competition, which will begin around 11 a.m.

“There will be sheep riding and get the ribbon off the goat’s tail events for the kids,” newly elected club president Eddie Brown said. “The cowboy challenge will consist of dangerous stunts on horses.”

Cowboys will test their skills riding through the “Devil’s Punch Bowl,” going over jumps and test their horse’s strength on the log pull.

“It’s going to take a good cowboy and good horse to win,” Brown said. “There will be some people that hit the dirt.”

Brown said he was hoping to surpass last year’s participants of 50 to 100 or more.

“We are looking for folks to come from Woodville and Jonesville, La.,” Brown said. “This is for bragging rights and $200 cash prize for the top cowboy.”

Entry forms and event rules can be found at either Cathy’s Cowboy Corral or at The Ranch House.
