FAYETTE — Both of Wilkinson County’s varsity basketball teams lost to Hinds Agricultural High School Saturday at the 2007 Jefferson County High Basketball Classic.

In the first game of the day, Toni Anthony led the Lady Wildcats with a game-high 22 points, but the Lady Bulldogs held them to 15 points in the second half as the rallied to take a 41-39 win. The Lady Wildcats are now 1-1 on the season.

Then in the varsity boys game, K. Stewart led a balanced scoring attack for the Bulldogs with 14 points as the rolled to a 61-43 win over the Wildcats. Corey Anthony led the Wildcats (1-1) with a game-high 23 points.

In the final two games of the day, Jefferson County swept Jackson, La. The Lady Tigers, led by Erin Wells’ 26 points, outscored the Lady Chiefs 44-7 in the second half en route to an impressive 73-21 win and the Tigers defeated the Chiefs in the nightcap 52-32.
