Veterans parade set for Saturday

Hey, it’s that time of year again. Veterans Day will be Sunday, but to avoid competing with church attendance, our parade will be on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. The route is Broadway, east on Franklin, south on Rankin to Memorial Park.
The theme for our parade this year is to honor our GWOT returnees. If you know a recent returnee, please help us get the invitation to them. If you have a family member still over there, put a plaque on your car and enter it into our parade to honor your hero.
Colonel John Curran is Parade Chairman and has invited virtually every organization in the Miss-Lou. But if you haven’t been aware of the invitation, consider this plea to participate by some of the following methods:
If you own a business consider a float for your employees, veterans and family.
Consider a float for your Sunday School class.
Your Civic Club could sponsor a float.
All you veterans, wear your uniform and march.
Everyone could talk this up. Let’s make this a success.
This parade is a Miss-Lou event, not just for veterans, but for every patriotic, freedom-loving, red-blooded American.
At 11 a.m., a special service in Memorial Park will start as all church bells in the Miss-Lou toll for one minute. Several veterans will tell their experiences in serving their country.
See you there!
Erle Drane is the Adams County veterans’ service officer.
