Alberta Williams

NATCHEZ – Services for Alberta D. Williams, 91, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Zion Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Williams was born July 18, 1916, in Adams County, the only child of Robert and Josephine Davis. She attended Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in her youth. She was baptized by the Rev. James Franklin and became a member of New Zion Baptist Church No. 1 where she served on the usher board and as secretary for several years. She was also a member of the Good Shepherd Society.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Williams; a son, Charles Williams; grandson, Cedric; and granddaughter, Kim Evette.

Survivors include her devoted daughters, Joenetta Townsend and husband, Esaw, both of Broadview, Ill., Willie Mae Bacon and husband, Henry, both of Natchez, Patricia Williams of Tampa, Fla. and Lynn Williams and husband, Claster, both of Gretna, La.; brother, Lee Edward Douglas of Natchez; grandsons, Carl, Mark, Kevin, Marcus and Quincy; two great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
