NATCHEZ — Adams County tax assessor Reynolds Atkins suffered a heart attack on Monday afternoon.

Atkins’ youngest son Sammy said his father was doing housework when he told his wife he thought he was having a heart attack.

Atkins was then rushed by ambulance to Natchez Regional Hospital.

Atkins’ son said once at the hospital his father’s condition quickly worsened and his heart did stop for a short time.

Once stabilized, Atkins was transferred to St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Atkins’ son said on Monday evening that his father’s condition had improved and that he was able to communicate coherently with family and doctors.
