George Edwards Sr.

RIDGECREST – George A. Edwards Sr. , 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Edwards requested no services.
Mr. Edwards was born Nov. 3, 1933, the son of Tommy Edwards and Nollie and Edna Ulmer. He was a lifelong resident of Concordia Parish. He was also a farmer, employee of John Deere Equipment Company for over 18 years, a constable in ward four for 16 years and finally retired from Ashland Oil in 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War and in the Navy Reserves for an additional eight years. He was an amazing family man, beloved husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Alive V. Edwards of Ridgecrest; sons, George A. Edwards Jr. and wife, Helen, both of Calhoun, La. and Sean D. Edwards and wife, Karen, both of Ferriday; daughter, Shirley A. Edwards of Ridgecrest; grandchildren, Tonya L. Webb and Dusty W. Edwards, both of Memphis, Tenn., Michael Heath Edwards of Ridgecrest and Kennedy Crabtree and Taylor Storm Edwards, both of Ferriday; great-grandchildren, Hayden Grace and Madison Paige Webb, both of Memphis and Lauren Haley Edwards of Ridgecrest; and special friends, Edgar and Laverne Moore and Oscar and Flora Stewart.
