NATCHEZ – Services for Carolyn Parker Winters, 78, of Natchez, who died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Zabron A. Davis III officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Winters was born March 1, 1929, the daughter of Robert Hicks Parker and Edna Elizabeth Blewett Parker.
Mrs. Winters was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was active with Episcopal Church Women. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Day School Booster Club. She attended University of Mississippi and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was also a member of Pilgrimage Garden Club. She was an accomplished pilot and short-wave radio operator. Mrs. Winters worked for over 30 years as office manager for Dr. Thomas H. Gandy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Edna Parker Bailey; and brothers, R. Hicks Parker Jr., Eugene T. Parker and Jack B. Parker.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Winters Hughes of Jackson; son, Gerry Winters and wife, Phebe Heard Winters, both of Natchez; grandchildren, Phebe Clare Winters and Hicks Winters, both of Natchez, and Lain Hughes and wife, Jessica Leigh Long, both of Jackson; sister, Barbara Nell Parker Stewart and husband, Van; brother, Richard S. Parker and wife, Nell, and sister-in-law, Page Davis Parker, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lain Hughes, Hicks Winters, Richard S. Parker Jr., James A. Stewart, Joseph C. Bonner and William Carl McGehee.
