Clutch basket gives Lady Hounds OT victory

RAYVILLE, LA.— Julia Corbett made her only two points of the game count.
The Huntington guard made a basket with one second remaining in regulation to send the Lady Hounds game against Riverfield into overtime tied at 52.
Huntington went on to outscore Riverfield 11-3 in the extra period and take a 63-55 win.
Phyllicia Woods led the way for Huntington (6-7) with 20 points and 19 rebounds whiel Emilee Johns also had a double-double, chipping in with 16 points and 13 boards.
Donna Tarver also scored in double figures with 13 points.
Riverfield’s Kelsie Cheek led all scorers in the game with 32 points while Claudia Williams added 10 points in the losing effort.
Cathedral girls 48, Monterey 42
HARRISONBURG, La. — The Cathedral Lady Wave pulled away from Monterey in the second half to take a victory on the first day of the single-elimination Harrisonburg High School Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Wave led 19-17 at halftime but pulled away for the win.
Kristian Dobard led the way for Cathedral with 27 points while Haley Forman chipped in with 12 for the Lady Wave, who improved to 2-7 on the season.
Tallulah girls 36, Trinity 21
St. joseph — A terrible third quarter doomed the Lady Saints to defeat in the Tensas Shootout.
Tallulah outscored Trinity 16-0 in the third quarter to turn a tie score into a blowout.
The game was tied at 14 at halftime before Tallulah went on their big run in the third quarter.
Molly Butts led Trinity (9-4) with eight points while Caroline Ketchings and Sandy Hall both scored four.
Tallulah was led by Anna Beth Book with 12 points while Caroline Todd scored eight.
Trinity boys 70, Franklin Academy 60
St. joseph — Trinity jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in defeating Franklin Parish in the Tensas Shootout.
The Saints held an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and never trailed after that in the contest.
Brandon Daggs led the way for Trinity with 23 points while Matthew Freeman scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Andrew Johnson added 11 in the winning effort.
Franklin Parish was led by Darrin Collie’s 28 points while Caleb Haring added 22.
Block girls 54, Vidalia 35
jonesville — The Block Lady Bears wasted no time in disposing of Vidalia in prep basketball action Thursday night.
Block jumped out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter and led 36-17 at halftime en route to the win.
Desiree Savage led Block with 14 points while Arnesha Beard and Tyra Jefferson scored 10 points apiece.
Gabrielle Wagner scored seven points for Vidalia in the loss.
