FERRIDAY – Services for Elmo James Ainsworth, 88, of Cypress Grove, La., who died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Raymond Eames and Larry Waggoner officiating.
Burial will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Ainsworth was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Jena, La., the son of Fate F. and Bessie K. Ainsworth. He was a retired millwright with Johns-Mansville in Natchez. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Ferriday. Mr. Ainsworth was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Infantry in the Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Cowan Ainsworth; a daughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Vinita May and husband, Danny, both of Cypress Grove; sons, Richard Ainsworth of Houma, La. and Ray Ainsworth and wife, Lottie, both of Eros, La.; stepsons, Foster Britt and wife, Mary Jo, both of Natchez, and Danny Britt Sr. and wife, Sadie, both of Bogue Chitto; stepdaughter, Duiana Emfinger and husband, Terry, both of Natchez; brother, Lloyd Ainsworth of Pineville, La.; sister, Olene Webb of Jena; 19 grandchildren, Brookelin, Brett, Tiny, James, Richard, Kade, Stuart, Stacy, James F., Tonja, Candace, Kimberly, Michelle, Lynette, Haley, Carl, Dana, Danny and Cynthia; 29 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Kade Ainsworth, Coot Swilley, David Scruggs, Jackie Martin, Dylan Parker and Harvey Cowan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Tuminello, Dr. Moak, Michael Cowan, Bobby Warshaw, Darryl Cowan, Shawn Hollis, James Ainsworth and Stuart Ainsworth.
