NATCHEZ — Tis the season for giving.
And the local Girl Scouts want to make giving easier this year. Scouts are gearing up for the season by giving and helping you give.
Girl Scouts will be at Sonic Drive-In, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program.
Girls will bring their own donations and collect those brought from community members.
You can help by bringing a toy that is wrapped or a toy that has not been opened and receive a free order of tater tots.
The Girl Scouts will be learning the joy of giving in this great giving season.
Neighborhood Chairperson Frances Bailey asks all community members to come out bearing gifts.
Toys for Tots is a national program started by the U.S. Marines.
The goal is to deliver new toys to needy children at Christmas, bringing a message of hope to youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
Nationally, Toys for Tots leaders collect money year-round to make Christmas brighter. Projects like golf tournaments, foot races, bike races and other fundraisers drive support for the annual project.
