HARRISONBURG, La. — The Cathedral Green Wave got yet another amazing performance from Juan Gray but couldn’t hold a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter as they fell in a 51-49 heartbreaker to Buckeye in the finals of the Harrisonburg Basketball Tournament.
Gray drained five threes in the first half and scored 28 points in all but Cathedral couldn’t hold on.
“It was a great game,” Cathedral coach Peter Arnold said. “They are a 3A school and had three guys over 6’4. We played phenomenal but I think we got tired near the end of the game and couldn’t finish it out.”
Cathedral led 24-23 at halftime and 36-33 at the end of the third quarter.
Jeremey Fuqua led Buckeye with 25 points while Corey Salmon scored 18.
“This is a tough way for our seven-game winning streak to end,” Arnold said. “But we’ll have to regroup and get ready for next week.”
