BATON ROUGE (AP) — The leader of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, who led the organization in the two years since hurricanes Katrina and Rita, is leaving the post that he has held since the authority’s creation.

LRA Executive Director Andy Kopplin announced his decision at the LRA’s board meeting on Tuesday, saying he intended to move into work in the private sector. He says he completed the tasks he set out to do when the recovery authority was started by Gov. Kathleen Blanco to guide rebuilding efforts after the back-to-back 2005 storms.

Kopplin didn’t immediately describe the next position he would be taking.
