Investment group Sherwood Investments Overseas Ltd. said on Tuesday it has offered to buy clean energy company Rentech Inc. for about $373 million.

Sherwood said it would offer shareholders $2.28 per Rentech share, a premium of more than 30 percent over Monday’s closing price.
