JENA — A Jena woman was killed in a two-car accident Wednesday.
Alice J. Whatley, 64, of Jena, was killed when the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria she was driving was struck by a 2007 GMC pick-up driven by Nicholas Dewey Parish, 18, of Jonesville.
Whatley was westbound on U.S. 84 in Catahoula Parish when the accident occurred. Parish was traveling eastbound, apparently attempting a passing maneuver around another eastbound vehicle.
Whatley had one passenger, Jerry W. Whatley, 66, of Jena, who sustained minor injuries and was transported to LaSalle General Hospital.
Parish suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
The Catahoula Parish Coroner’s Office will investigate the exact cause of death, and routine toxicology test and charges are pending.
