NATCHEZ – Services for Lillian Watts Whitmore, 90, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. Friday,

at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Whitmore was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Adams County, the daughter of Lee and Mildred Jones Watts. She was a long time member of Zion Chapel A.M. E. Church. She was a retired educator from Adams County Public School District. She received her master’s degree in education. She was also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Society. She loved music, crocheting and sewing.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Whitmore; and two brothers.

Survivors include her godchild, Mrs. Mamie Mazique of Greenville; the Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church family; Glenburney Rehab and Healthcare staff; Dr. J. R. Todd and staff; and a number of former students and friends.

Pallbearers will be members of the Zion Chapel A. M. E. Church.
