NATCHEZ – Services for Lugina “Jean” Thomas, 66, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Baptist Hospital, in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Melrose Church of Christ with the Rev. Michael Hoggatt officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Thomas was born April 26, 1941, in Adams County, the daughter of Curtis Jones Sr. and Hattie Whiting. She was employed with Alcorn State University School of Nursing. She was retired. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Melrose Church of Christ where she taught the preschool Bible class. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Andrew Thomas Jr.; sister, Deloris Jones; and brother, Curtis Jones Jr.

Survivors include her mother, Hattie Whiting of Natchez; brothers, the Rev. Everett Jones and wife, Bessie, both of Dallas and Ernest Jones and wife, Laura, both of Natchez; sisters, Annie Mae Jones and Laura Whittley and husband, Alfred, all of Natchez; daughters, Glenda Hamilton and husband, Cardell, Terri Turner and husband, Michael, Denise Wolfe and husband, Jeff, and LaTanya Thomas, all of Jackson; sons, Kenneth Thomas and wife, Lori, both of Los Angeles, Kelvin Thomas and wife, Tresenia, both of Charlotte, N.C. and Stacey Thomas and wife, Angela, both of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Louis Thomas Sr., Michael Turner, Otis Fleming, Kim Singleton, Adrian Singleton and Lavell Whittley.
