NATCHEZ — Two local men and a woman have been arrested in connection with a Saturday strong arm robbery.
Kesha LaShaye Owens, 19, 1245 Daisy St., and Michael Lavelle Carter, 20, 2 Quitman Road, were arrested on charges of strong arm robbery Sunday.
Christopher Donte Jackson, 22, 24 October St., was arrested by the Natchez Police on a bench warrant for contempt of court failure to pay Monday.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has placed a hold on Jackson so he can be charged with the robbery once he has taken care of the bench warrant arrest, Adams County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Maj. Jody Waldrop said.
Carter allegedly entered Kaiser’s Mobile Mart on U.S. 61 North Saturday and complained that one of the store’s gas pumps was not working, and Owens allegedly tried to buy an alcoholic beverage without an ID.
After this, Jackson reportedly approached the register under the pretense of buying a tobacco product, and when the clerk opened the register he allegedly reached across the counter and snatched money from it, scratching the clerk in the process.
“The first two entered the store to distract the clerk,” Sheriff Ronny Brown said.
Jackson allegedly took approximately $181.
Owens and Carter were arrested after an ACSO deputy identified them and their vehicle from the store’s surveillance video, Brown said.
Owens and Carter were detained without bond Sunday.
