TYLERTOWN — Lani Griffith scored two goals, one in each half, as the Cathedral Lady Green Wave improved to 7-2 on the season with a 5-0 win over the Tylertown Lady Chiefs Friday night.

Griffith scored her first goal of the game at the 15th minute of the first half. She then gave Cathedral a 4-0 lead at the 18th minute of the second half on a penalty kick – the first of two successful penalty kicks by the Lady Green wave in the second half.

“Tylertown is a new team, so there was a lot of pushing going on,” Cathedral head coach David Gaudé said. “Tonight was a learning experience for them. Both of our PKs were because of pushing in the box.”

Madeline Jeansonne scored on a penalty kick at the 21st minute of the second half. Maddie Kirkwood made it 2-0 in Cathedral’s favor at the 23rd minute of the first half and Joanna David scored with under a minute to go until halftime to go for a 3-0 lead.

The only player for Cathedral who didn’t touch the ball during the game was goalkeeper Lissa McManus.

“She pretty much had the night off,” Gaudé said.
