Smith wins BRL Fruit Jar bass tournament

The BRL Fruit Jar bass tournament organized by Concordia Bass Clubber John Bruce was held January 6th out of the Workinger Bayou launch.
Twelve anglers weighed 38 bass with six limits and three zips at the 1 p.m. weigh in.
The weather was fantastic, 59-75 degrees under a breezy partly cloudy sky while the water stayed at 54-56 degrees.
Danny “Team Triton” Smith of Monterey won with a hefty 17.28 five bass limit anchored by the daily lunker of 5.67.
John “Team Go-Mart” Bruce of Vidalia took a close second with a heavy 17.03 limit that included a 5.25 hawg.
Doug Schexnayder of Vidalia fooled a 11.58 limit for third while Junior Book (11.19) and David Cooper (8.06) rounded out the top five.
Others with fish were Terrell Jones (3 for 7.16), Johnny Davis (6.34 limit), James Mullins (3 for 6.24) and Alan Brumfield (2 for 5.19).
Robbie Buckles, Steve Gibson and Buster Martinez also fished in the tournament.
