NATCHEZ — Two break-ins occurred Monday afternoon.

Police Chief Mike Mullins said a car parked on Mascagni Avenue was broken into. A window was broken and a purse left on the seat of the car was stolen.

On Alabama Street, a lock was found broken on a back door of a house. Taken from the house was a shotgun, a pistol, pennies and a checkbook. Mullins said there are no suspects. He said he does not feel it is related to the downtown break-ins.

“We do not suspect the same people,” he said.

Mullins pointed to the fact that these break-ins were in a completely different area of town than the previous downtown break-ins. Also, he added that these break-ins are dissimilar in that they occurred during the daytime.
