LONG BEACH (AP) — Authorities say a tow truck driver who was standing on the roadside was killed when he was hit by a drunk driver.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says 34-year-old Robert Thomas Payne of Gulfport died early Saturday by blunt force trauma.

Harrison County sheriff’s deputies say Payne had just dropped off a vehicle at an apartment complex when he was hit by a truck driven by 44-year-old Robert Wayne Burns of Long Beach.
