Corinne Ohlsen Randazzo has announced her candidacy for alderwoman District 2 for Vidalia. She is a life-long resident of the town and is the widow of the former mayor, Samuel Randazzo. Because of her knowledge of her hometown and of city government, she feels she is qualified to serve in this capacity.

Randazzo is a graduate of Vidalia High School, of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (formerly U.S.L.), Louisiana State University and the University of Southern Mississippi and was an educator in the Natchez-Adams County Schools for 36 years. Other educational experiences include teaching library science during summer sessions at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Tennessee, and Louisiana State University. Her community service includes membership for 13 years on the Concordia Council on Aging Board of Directors, serving as board president during her tenure. She also served two years as the first president of the CENLA Council on Aging. After retirement, she volunteered in the four Vidalia schools. As a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Randazzo served as volunteer secretary, is on the finance council, and is a member of the Altar Society, a lector, and an extraordinary minister. She is also a member of the Vidalia and Natchez Garden Clubs and as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, has worked at the school sites in Natchez during disasters.

She is the mother of two daughters, Cindy Quinlivan, stepdaughter of Sugar Grove, Ill., and Rene’ Ware of Natchez. Randazzo has one grandson, Kenneth ‘Mac’ Ware, a student at Louisiana State University.

At present, she is attempting to preserve a very important aspect of Vidalia history, the moving of the town, 1938-39. She has developed a computer power point program depicting photos of the ‘old’ town, the moving of the town and the development of the ‘new’ town. She is also writing the text to accompany the program.

“Prior to this project, when my husband was mayor, I placed in City Hall a historic photo exhibit of approximately 60 scenes of the town and photos of most of the mayors who served our town,” she said.

“Vidalia is a wonderful little town, with a safe environment, good schools, friendly businesses and loving and caring citizens. I would like to be a part of the Vidalia leadership team, adding new ideas and promoting a more conservative government,” she said. “There are eight issues which I think we need to consider for the future betterment of our town. As I visit each of the voters in my district, I will discuss my proposals, which are printed on my campaign flyers.”

“So if you want a change, Go with ‘Co’! Please vote for Corinne #372, Alderlady for District 2 on Feb. 9,” she said.

Thank you.
