NATCHEZ – Services for Doris Marie Southern Havard, 72, of Lake St. John, who passed to glory Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, will be at 3 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Havard was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Baskin, La., the daughter of Chester Lee and Ruby Lee Fortenberry Southern. She will be remembered by family and friends as a proud and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a force to be reckoned with for anyone who foolishly chose to mess with her boys.
She will be missed by her husband, who already finds the house much too quiet in her absence; her sons, who are admittedly responsible for each and every gray hair in her head; and by her grandsons who were her absolute pride and joy. She often adopted hooligans from Foresite subdivision. She was an active member of Lakeshore Baptist Church.
Mrs. Havard was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, R.C. Southern; and two sisters, Maxine Byargeon and Janice Southern.
Survivors include her husband, Ottis G. Havard; two sons, Guy Havard and wife, Mona, both of D’Iberville and Ronnie Havard and wife, Sherrie, both of Weddington, N.C.; grandsons, Adam Havard of Austin, Texas, and Jeremy Havard of the U.S. Marines; one sisters, Dorothy Rowlin of Lake St. John and Nelda Bateman of Gloster; two sisters-in-law, Josie Seals and Camille McKinney; two brothers-in-law, Edward Havard and John S. Havard, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Rowlin, Walter Havard Jr., Adam Havard, Ronnie Randall, Jerry Miller and Bob Bateman.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lairdfh.com.
