NATCHEZ — A Saturday night dice game ended badly when a Natchez man was shot in the jaw.
The shooting was the result of a disagreement between Kendrick Fleming, 26, and a 16-year-old Antonio Clay.
Police Chief Mike Mullins said the two individuals were playing dice at a home on Dumas Drive when something prompted Clay to fire on Fleming.
Clay, who resides at 104 Dumas Drive, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Mullins said the boy is being charged as an adult because the crime involved the use of a deadly weapon.
Police were initially notified of the crime by the staff at Natchez Regional Hospital when they called to report a man in the emergency was being treated for a gunshot wound.
Mullins said Fleming identified Clay as the shooter while still in the hospital.
Clay was arrested approximately on hour after the shooting at 11:46 p.m.
On Sunday Fleming was moved to University Medical Center in Jackson for surgery and additional treatment.
Mullins said Clay will not be eligible for bond until his arraignment.
