NATCHEZ —Led by the sharp shooting of Kristian Dobard, the Cathedral Lady Green Wave led wire to wire and notched a district win over Salem.
Both teams started slow in the first quarter, and Cathedral took a narrow two-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was very similar as each team scored 11 and the Lady Wildcats were down by two at the half.
In the third, Cathedral picked up the pace, but Salem didn’t fall far behind and only trailed by four at the end of the period.
It was in the fourth quarter that the Lady Green Wave pulled away.
Cathedral went on an 11-point run to extend the lead in the last few minutes and seal a 52-38 victory.
“We started off slow,” Cathedral head coach Kathy Graning said. “Kristian had a great game and it’s good to have her leadership on this team.”
“They were the better prepared team tonight,” Salem head coach Kenneth Murphy said. “They came out and earned the win.”
Dobard led the Lady Green Wave with 36 points while teammate Haley Forman added eight.
Tip Turner was the leading scorer for Salem with 16 points while Sarah Jennings chipped in eight.

With Juan Gray at the helm, Cathedral had no problem scoring enough points to defeat the visiting Salem Wildcats by 30.
The Green Wave owned the first quarter, going on a 17-0 run to take an early lead over Salem.
The Wildcats came back in the second quarter though, and put up 19 points to chip away at the lead, but Cathedral didn’t back down and went into halftime with an 11-point lead.
Cathedral then used a 16-0 run to start off the third quarter, and take full control of the game while Salem could only manage to score one point in the entire quarter.
The Green Wave would continue to roll in the fourth, and put reserves in for most of the quarter to finish the game.
“We played excellent defense tonight,” Cathedral head coach Peter Arnold said. “This is our first 20-win season in a long time, if not our first one ever.”
Juan Gray led the Green Wave with 21 points while Skylar Bacon chipped in 16 points.
For Salem, Shannon Ratcliff scored 14 and DJ Harness added nine.
