NATCHEZ — Services for Andrew Washington Jr., 80, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Camelot Leisure Living, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Washington was born Nov. 12, 1928, the son of Andrew Washington and Alice Hayes Washington.
Mr. Washington served in the U.S. armed forces from 1952 to 1954 and received a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ella Granger; and two nephews, Stanley Washington and Lionell Vicks.
Survivors include one daughter, Georgia C. Martin and husband, Earl, both of Natchez; four sisters, Bessie W. Vicks, Bertha W. Clayton and Mamie W. Granger and husband, James, all of Natchez and Alice W. Taplin of St. Rose, La.; four brothers, Anderson Washington and wife, Leola, Leon Washington and Eli Washington and wife, Helen, all of Natchez and Willie James Washington and wife, Marie, both of Avondale, La.; a special nephew, Dan “Lucky” Vicks of Roxie; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Charles Barnes, Donald Barnes, Arzell Green, Joseph Cain, Henry Logan and Paul B. Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dan “Lucky” Vicks, John Conrad, Eli Washington, Willie J. Washington, Anderson Washington and Leon Washington.
