Pilgrimage Garden Club announces pageant members

The Pilgrimage Garden Club has announced its 2008 Royal Court for the Historic Natchez Pageant. The maids, generals and pages in the Royal Court will serve the Pilgrimage Garden Club’s queen and king during their reign in the upcoming Spring Pilgrimage March 7 through April 5.

Maid Catherine Claire Campbell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Campbell of Baton Rouge. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Richard A. Campbell and the late Richard A. Campbell of Natchez and Mr. and Mrs. Louis G. Miramon of Slidell, La.

Catherine is a 2005 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy. Presently, she attends LSU where she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and is majoring in accounting. She enjoys reading, skiing and hunting.

Maid Shannon Kate Galloway is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Galloway of Vidalia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Galloway of Ferriday and Mrs. Shirley L. Walton of Vidalia and the late Dr. Henry H. Walton of Russellville, Ark.

Shannon is a 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School. She currently attends Louisiana Technical University in Ruston where nursing is her major. Shannon has received the TOPPS academic scholarship for the past three years and is a member of the Louisiana Student Nurses Association.

Shannon attends St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ferriday. She enjoys traveling, riding horses and spending time with her pet canines. Previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Picnic, Polka and the Wedding of Jefferson Davis where she served as a flower girl, junior bridesmaid and bridesmaid.

Maid Alexandra Margarete Roberts is the daughter of the late Tracey Roberts and Dennis Roberts. She is the granddaughter of Kelly and Tommy Dennig and the late Carolyn Alwood Hendricks of Lake St. John and Chris and Bill Roberts of Vidalia.

A 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School, Alex is attending LSU where her major is English. She is a member of the Tiger Athletic Foundation, Kappa Delta sorority, College Republicans, and she also writes and tutors for the LSU College of Arts and Science.

Alex enjoys cooking, reading, LSU football and going to the lake. Her previous pageant participation includes Big Maypole, Christmas at Hope Farm, Picnic and the Soiree’ at Jefferson College.

Maid Jessica Sue Seale is the daughter of Denise H. and Jasper E. Seale. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard E. Seale of McComb and Dr. and Mrs. Joe D. Herrington of Natchez.

Jessica is a 2005 graduate of Adams County Christian School where she was a member of the Rebelettes drill team, serving as captain her senior year. She attended the First Presbyterian youth group and Middleton School of Dance while in high school. Following her graduation in 2005, she attended Jones County Junior College. She is currently pursuing a nursing degree at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Jessica enjoys fishing, skiing, shopping, exercising, dancing, cooking, riding four-wheelers and hanging out with friends and family. Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Picnic, Can-Can in the Showboat, junior bridesmaid in the Wedding of Jefferson Davis and Soiree’, dancing the “Sweetheart” lead her senior year.

Maid Sarah Jean Smitherman is the daughter of Mark and Dixie Smitherman. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Cotton, Jr., Mrs. Sharon Smitherman and the late Mr. James W. Smitherman, and the late Mrs. Elizabeth R. Smitherman, all of Natchez.

A 2005 graduate of Neville High School, Sarah is attending Mississippi State University where nursing is her major. She is a member of the Phi Mu alumnae, American Medical Student Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society and the Campus Activities Board.

Sarah enjoys travel, music, art, gardening, spending time with friends and family and playing with her new puppy, Trudy. Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Picnic and Can-Can.

Maid Emily Kay Stevens is the daughter of Kathleen and Vernon Stevens of Vidalia. She is the granddaughter of the late Vernon and Ethel Stevens of Natchez and the late Howard and Marjorie McAdams of Metairie, La.

A 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School, Emily presently attends Mississippi State University where she is a psychology major. At MSU she is a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society in psychology, Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization, Catholic Student Association and the Psychology Club. She was also a member of Kappa Delta sorority from 2005 until 2007.

Emily enjoys reading, painting, pottery and sports. Her previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Picnic and Polka.

Maid Lauren Ashley Trippe is the daughter of Melanie Trippe and Chris Trippe of Natchez. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Holder and Mr. and Mrs. C.F. “Buck” Trippe of Natchez.

Lauren graduated from ACCS in 2005. At ACCS she served as president of Key Club, head cheerleader and vice president of the Student Council. As a senior Lauren was selected Miss ACCS, Best All Around, Most Beautiful and Most Talented and was chosen for the ACCS Hall of Fame. In addition, Lauren took ballet for 15 years at Natchez Ballet and performed with the Natchez Opera Festival and in the yearly production of the Nutcracker. Among her many roles in the Nutcracker, she danced both the role of Clara and the lead Sugar Plum Fairy for two years. She also attended the International Ballet School class in New York and Ballet Mississippi in Jackson. Following her high school graduation, Lauren attended Copiah Lincoln Junior College where she was a cheerleader for two years, a member of the Colette dance team and on the Dean’s List. She received an Associate Degree from Co-Lin and is currently pursuing a career in business and pharmaceutical sales.

Lauren enjoys ballet, dance and reading. Her previous participation in the pageant includes the Picnic, Fannie Eisler for seven years, dancing the lead role of Fannie for three years, the Can-Can and the Polka.

Maid Sarah Catherine Wisner is the daughter of Carla Jenkins and Glenn Wisner. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde D. Jenkins and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wisner, all of Natchez.

A 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School, Sarah is attending Mississippi State University majoring in communications/public relations. At MSU, she is a member of Chi Omega sorority, College Republicans, Best Buddies and the Student Association.

Sarah enjoys swimming, reading, sports and spending time with family and friends. In the pageant, she has served as a page and danced in the Big Maypole, the Little Maypole, the Picnic and the Polka.

General Thomas Alexander Allain is the son of Melissa Anders Allain and Henry Thomas Allain, Jr. He is the grandson of Mrs. J. Odell Anders and the late Mr. Anders, the late Henry T. Allain and the late Della Brown Allain, all of Natchez.

A 2005 graduate of Trinity Episcopal, Alex was the valedictorian of his class and achieved his Eagle Scout ranking. He is currently attending Millsaps College where he is majoring in religious Studies with a concentration in human services. At Millsaps Alex has been named to the Dean’s List, the President’s List and Phi-Eta Sigma freshman honorary. He is also a member of the Circle K and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi; he served as service trip chairman for the campus ministry team; and he was chosen alumni secretary and Interfraternal Council representative for Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was the freshman orientation leader for the foundations’ members and the president of the Millsaps chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Alex has been a summer youth worker at Jefferson Street UMC in Natchez and is a research and technology assistant at the Millsaps-Wilson Library.

Alex enjoys reading, running, and weightlifting. His previous pageant participation includes Big Maypole, ring bearer in the Wedding of Jefferson Davis, wheel roller in Showboat, Great Sun in the Raising of the Flag, Picnic, Polka, the American flag bearer, and working on the back stage crew for four years.

General Thomas Alan Ater is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Ater of Ferriday. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thompson of Vidalia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Don Ater of Ferriday.

Thomas is a 2005 graduate of Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Georgia. Currently, he is attending East Mississippi Community College. He will resume his studies at Mississippi State University next fall, pursuing a degree in Integrated Pest Management. Thomas achieved his Eagle Scout ranking and is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Thomas enjoys playing soccer and bird hunting. He has participated in the Big Maypole, the Picnic, and the Raising of the Flag.

General William Calhoun Carter is the son of Mark and Mary Ann Carter of Vidalia. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Lambert of Rotonda West, Florida, the late Malcolm Carter of Natchez, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Calhoun of Vidalia.

Will is a 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School where he was the valedictorian of his class, received the Star Student award, and achieved his Eagle Scout ranking. He played soccer, tennis, football, and was a member of the Jefferson Street Methodist youth group. He is attending LSU majoring in accounting. At LSU he serves on the Recruitment Board and has been elected to serve as vice-president of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Will enjoys music, LSU sports, and scuba diving. His pageant participation includes Maypole, Picnic, Polka, and Soiree’ Sweetheart lead. He also served as a general in the 2006 PGC court during the reign of his brother Mark Edward Carter, Jr.

General Andrew Michael Ellard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael B. Ellard. He is the grandson of Bruce Ellard and Catherine Ellard, Opal Vines, and the late Reese Vines, all of Natchez.

Andrew is a 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School. At present, he is attending Mississippi State University and plans to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy. He is a member of the MSU Student Association, Kappa Sigma fraternity, RUS Campus Christian Outreach, and the MSU varsity football team.

Andrew enjoys football, fishing, and hunting. His previous participation has been in the Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Polka, and Soiree’ tableaus, and he was a wheel roller in the Showboat.

General Blasé Edward Gaude’ is the son of David and Anne Gaude’. He is the grandson of Ron and Roseminette Gaude’ and Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Vines, all of Natchez.

A 2005 graduate of Cathedral High School, Blasé attends University of Southern Mississippi where he is majoring in Construction Engineering. At USM Blasé has been named to the Dean’s List and the President’s List. He is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and presently serves as treasurer. He is also a member of the Southern University’s chapter of Ducks Unlimited and the National Sporting Clays Association. He completed a summer internship with Scenic Homes in Atlanta, Georgia, and has coached youth soccer in Hattiesburg for two years. Blasé attends St. Thomas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg and is a member of St. Mary’s Basilica in Natchez.

Blasé enjoys kayaking, skeet shooting, white-water rafting, hunting, fishing, soccer, and cattle ranching. His previous pageant participation has been serving as a page in 1994, Little Maypole, Big Maypole, a wheel roller in the Showboat, the groom in the Wedding of Jefferson Davis, and the Confederate flag runner. In addition, Blasé danced Soiree’ for five years and danced the “Sweetheart” lead three of those years.

General Martin Scott Hanson is the son of Sherry M. Hanson of Natchez and Sidney L. Hanson of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Stella Roper Sharp of Natchez, the late Henry E. Martin of Natchez, and Sid and Marie West Hanson of Dallas, Texas.

Scott is a 2005 graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School where he was a member of the varsity football, soccer, swimming, cross-country, and track teams. He also received his Eagle Scout ranking. Scott is at Copiah-Lincoln Community College where his major is business management and marketing. At Co-Lin, he has been a member of the Wolves soccer team for the past two years and received the “Best in Show” award at the Mississippi Community College Art Show. In addition, Scott is a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Natchez Bicycle Club. He is a certified American Red Cross CPR and lifeguard instructor and the soccer coach for the Trinity Episcopal Day School team and the Brookhaven Academy’s girls’ team.

Scott enjoys muscle car restoration. He has been in the Little Maypole tableau and was the Big Maypole partner to Queen Brittany Laird. He has also worked on the backstage crew for five years.

General William David Harris, Jr. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William David Harris, Sr. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Harris of Mobile, Alabama, and Mrs. Sue Cook Owen and the late Mr. Robert Burns Owen of Bay Minette, Alabama.

Will, a 2005 graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School, is currently attending LSU where he is pursuing a double major in philosophy and political science with a concentration in political theory. At LSU Will received recognition as LSU Top 10 freshmen, LSU Honors College, the student government director of communications, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also served as the LSU Daily Reveille opinion editor, photo editor and photographer. He is a former tuba player for the Golden Band from Tigerland and a former member of the LSU men’s chorus.

Will is greatly interested in musical theatre and politics and is an active supporter of Democratic candidates for the White House and Congress in 2008. His previous pageant participation includes the Polka, the Wedding of Jefferson Davis, the Confederate drummer, and singing in the Showboat and the Hunt.

General Howard Lee Jones IV is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lee Jones III. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. H. Lee Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Mullins, all of Natchez, and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Pickering of Dallas, Texas.

Lee graduated from Trinity Episcopal Day School in 2005. He is currently attending Mississippi State University where he is pursuing a degree in business.

Lee enjoys golf and hunting. His previous participation in the pageant includes the Big Maypole and the Showboat.

Page Baylee Rose Graning is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Graning. She is the granddaughter of Mr.and Mrs. Alan Graning of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and the late Kelly Rose Graning and the late Col. and Mrs. W. O. Locklear, all of Natchez.

Baylee is in first grade at Cathedral Elementary School. She is a member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club Junior Gardeners, Natchez Gymnastics, and Natchez Gators Cheerleading Squad. In 2006, Baylee was the mascot for the Cathedral Homecoming Court. She also plays soccer with the Natchez Youth Soccer League and T-ball with the Natchez Girls’ Softball League. In addition, Baylee is a member of St. Mary’s Basilica and the First Presbyterian youth music choir. She enjoys reading and is a participant in the Friends of the Library summer program. Her previous pageant participation has been in the Showboat, Little Maypole, and Picnic tableaus.

Page Elizabeth Carolyne Heatherly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Wade J. Heatherly. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Byrne, Jr. of Natchez, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heatherly of Columbus, Mississippi, and the late Robyn Howard Heatherly.

Carolyne is in kindergarten at Trinity Episcopal Day School. She attends St. Mary’s Basilica and is a student of Children’s Prep Music Studio and Natchez Ballet Academy. She is a member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club’s Junior Gardeners, Trinity Little Cherubs, and was a 2007 participant in the Nutcracker ballet.

Carolyne’s interests include music, ballet, reading, cooking, and swimming. Previously, she was in the Little Maypole tableau.

Page Elizabeth Mary Mayo is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Monty Mayo. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. LeBlanc and Mr. and Mrs. James G. Mayo.

Liza is in the first grade at Cathedral Elementary School where she has been named Citizen of the Week. She is a member of St. Mary’s Basilica, Natchez Gymnastics, and Natchez Ballet. She plays T-ball with the Natchez Girls Softball League. Liza enjoys art, playing outside with friends, and spending time traveling with her grandparents. She has participated in the Little Maypole tableau.

Page Monroe Jackson Moody IV is the son of Cara Moody. He is the grandson of Kathy Marshall Moody and Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Moody, Jr., all of Natchez and Rebecca Landry of Houston, Texas.

Jackson is in the first grade at Cathedral Elementary School. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he is in the children’s choir and attends Sunday school. He is in the Tiger Cubs and plays soccer and T-ball.

Jackson’s interests include swimming, camping, riding his bike, and playing at Laurel Hill Plantation. Previously in the pageant, he has been a participant in the Little Maypole and Picnic.

Page Samuel Rush Mosby is the son of Sim and Betsy Mosby. He is the grandson of Rowan and Jim Milton, Bucky Colebank, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rush Mosby, all of Natchez.

Sam is in the 4 year old preschool at Trinity Episcopal Day School. He is a member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church and the Children’s Music Prep Studio. He enjoys playing soccer, playing with his older brother, and spending time with family. His previous pageant participation was in the Little Maypole.
