Chamber starting a retiree program

Calling all retirees. Are you rested up, tired of hanging around the house and ready to do something fun?
The Natchez Adams Chamber of Commerce is starting a new Retiree Ambassadors Program. This group will meet, eat, fellowship, assist in ribbon cuttings and special occasions, attend all the chamber events and spread the word about news about Natchez to everyone they meet.
In the meantime, they will share ideas and ways they can aid the chamber to become more involved in the community. This group will be the hands, eyes and ears that will promote the chamber. Retiree input and strength is the touch that is needed to raise the chamber to another level.
In the past, once citizens retired, they have not continued their membership. Recently the Natchez Adams Chamber of Commerce has added a retiree category to their new dues structure.
An individual retiree can join for $50 a year. This gives you the opportunity to attend events, meet friends and new acquaintances from the business world and stay in touch with what is happening in Natchez.
I am a retiree and I have stayed active with the chamber. I am presently on the chamber board and I have loved being involved. I am amazed at the information that I receive daily by e-mail from the chamber of activities in and around Natchez and important events that chamber members can attend.
I consider myself very knowledgeable of the happenings in Natchez. It amazes me that when I am in the community I can share with others important issues about our community that they are not aware.
If you would like to be in the know, have fun and attend chamber events, please meet me at the Marketplace on Main Street at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Refreshments will be served.
Millicent Mayo is on the Natchez Adams Chamber of Commerce board.
