NATCHEZ – Services for Charlie Hooper Clemons, 61, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Smithland Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Clemons was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Shaw, La., the son of Saul Clemons and Estella Hooper Clemons. He was retired as a heavy equipment operator from the Blain Companies and was a member of Smithland Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, T.J. Clemons; and five sisters, Natile Clemons, Estella Green, Dora Clemons, Carrie Washington and Fannie Minor.
Survivors include his wife, Emmaline Clemons; one brother, Earnest Lee Clemons; seven sisters, Bertha King and husband, Prince, Hattie Crumb, Odessa Stevens, Hazel Ford, Alberta Clemons, Barbara Jean Clemons Jefferson and Theresa Ford; four stepchildren; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, Sandra Davis; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Earnest Clemons Jr., Davis Jones, Vaugh Jones, Albert Davis, Edward Ford and Charles Ford.
