McFarland struck out five batters in three innings pitched, allowing no hits.

Junior standout Kristin Oglesby closed the game out on the mound for the Lady Bulldogs.

At the plate, Desiree Buie led Franklin County with a double and a single.

Jennifer Thornton added a triple, while Shonique Cameron had a double in the win.

“It was a good start to the season,” said FC head softball coach Dana Smith. “I saw a lot of positive things out there. We committed only two errors and our hitters put the ball in play. Our pitchers made a good debut.”

Knapp, a sophomore outfielder hit her first varsity career homer. The inside the park hit sent three runs home that gave FCHS momentum.

“That was a good hit by Morgan,” said Smith. “Our whole team played hard today.”
