NATCHEZ — On Feb. 20, what began as an attempted home invasion turned into a vehicle theft and double arrest for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Ronny Brown said two men attempted to break into the front door of a residence on U.S. 553.
When their attempts failed they allegedly threw a piece of concrete through the sliding door in the rear of the house.
The disturbance woke the homeowner who then scared away the would-be intruders.
Brown said a short time later the same two men attempted to steal a truck from a residence on U.S. 61 North.
When their attempts again failed the duo fled on a stolen four-wheeler taken from the same location.
Soon after their escape the men abandoned the four-wheeler in a ditch Brown said.
Deputies were able to arrest the two men and also recovered the stolen four-wheeler.
Brown said in the course of the investigation a second stolen four-wheeler was recovered.
Patrick Donald, 19, 348 State Park Road, was arrested on charges of attempted burglary and grand larceny.
The other individual was 15, he was also charged with attempted burglary and grad larceny.
Brown said the 15 year old was wanted by the Natchez Police Department in connection with other burglaries in the Natchez area.
Brown said the juvenile has since been turned over the to Natchez Police Department.
Donald is being held without bond until his arraignment.
