NATCHEZ — Officers patrolling Duncan Park Sunday night arrested a man who was attempting to break in to the golf shop.
Kerry Lamonic Weir, 34, of 415 Watts Ave., was arrested around 10:30 p.m., Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
The officers patrolling the park had been heading toward the golf shop when they saw a figure running from the corner of the shop.
One officer tracked down Weir on foot and was able to stop him.
Mullins said Weir had a screwdriver in his pocket.
The officers, he said, checked the golf shop and see where Weir had attempted to pry the window frames open.
He was arrested and charged with the burglary of a business. No bond is set until arraignment.
